The D-CV is capable of channeling a human’s soul for use of powering up and triggering evolution in a partner digimon. It is said to be a physical manifestation of a bond between partners, and spawned as the result of a deep desire. Its effects are powerful, as temporarily storing parts of a soul inside the device creates a direct link to the partnered digimon’s digicore, so that none of the potent emotional energy generated by the soul is lost. The more soul injected into the device, the greater power a digimon can obtain. At the highest levels it is capable of storing the tamer’s soul for a long term. It is a hardy device, but in the event it is destroyed, any parts of the human’s soul within at the time are lost permanently. It can monitor the partnered digimon’s health, and acts as a spawn point in the event that they die, preventing enemy digimon from absorbing the data. The D-CV also has storage and tracking features. It can store the data of deceased digimon to use for sustenance and power, or it can release the data later to allow it to reincarnate. It can detect other D-CVs, digimon, digital anomalies, and artifacts.
